Power lines can be dangerous. Here are quick tips to help stay safe:

  • Never climb trees near power lines, even if they don’t look close.
  • Stay at least 10 feet away, keep toys and kites far from lines
  • Always tell an adult if you see a power line on the ground.

Downed power lines

A downed power line is a power line that has fallen to the ground or is hanging low after a storm or accident. These can be very dangerous, even if they don’t look like they’re on. Remember:

  • Never touch a power line on the ground or anything near it.
  • Stay far away and tell an adult right away if you see one.
